SEARCHING HINTS:
- Official Records may be accessed by name only; not by property address or assessor parcel number (APN).
- When inputting last names of individuals, please use the following guidelines:
O’Connor would be entered as O CONNOR
Mc Donald would be entered as MC DONALD
MacDonald/Macdonald may be entered as MAC DONALD or as MACDONALD
- Hyphenated names (i.e. SMITH-JONES) should be entered with the hyphen. No other punctuation is used in the Index.
- Company names should be entered in the “Last Name” box (i.e. MC DONALDS CORP)
- Entries are not case sensitive.
- To search by document number, enter the 4-digit year followed by the document number in the following format:
2008-0012345 or 2008-12345 (leading zeroes are not necessary).
- The online index includes all records from 1974 to the present. Should you need to search records prior to 1974, you may visit our office located in Room 232 of the Marin County Civic Center (3501 Civic Center Drive, San Rafael, California). Our office hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (holidays excepted).
- Images of recorded documents cannot be viewed online, but may be viewed at our office.
